The following photos are shared by "Embryoguy" on ReefCentral and I thank him for permission to show them to you on my site. I have quoted from the thread so that it is not in my own words.
"It appears as if my BTA is budding? What do you think will happen? It's been like this for at least 2 days so far. It has not split since I acquired it several months ago."
"Here is a picture of it displaying a "pinching" affect. The BTA was not riped or torn in that particular area. like I noted. It has not gone through any obvious signs of stress during the past few months I've had it. Has never moved. Eats a small silversides about once a week and is under 10k mh." (I have marked where the bud is with a diver)
"Lets hope this bud becomes something. I just fed the mother mouth a Silverside. Tomorrow I will try to feed the bud and see if it pulls in any Mysis. My hope is that it becomes a two-headed BTA with a shared stalk/foot .
The small bud appears to have a mouth in the center of the stubby tentacles."
"It's hard to take a picture from above because the mother tentacles are hanging over the bud."
"It looks like the little bud with the small tentacles closed up
no two headed monster or new split."
"And now it has split. As you can see in the picture on the right, the bud has started to part from the mother Anemone on the right. Then the following picture is of it seperated and attached to it's own rock."
If any other pictures become available I will add them to this page. Thanks Embryoguy for letting me show these terrific pictures. Karen
